On a typical summer day, with strong sunshine, high temperatures and crowded beaches, Santos Marcus Fernandes (MF Racing) and Brazilian Bia Neres (EC Pinheiros) managed to overcome the strength of their opponents and won the 27th Santos International Triathlon, competition. played on Sunday morning (25) in the city of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, in the Olympic format at distances of 1.5 km of swimming, 40 km of cycling and 10 km of running.

After losing the lead in 2017, in the last leg of the race, the race, and consequently failing to win the podium, this time the experienced Marcus Fernandes has not given 'soup to bad luck' and, since leaving swimming, has put a great advantage on the second place, the athlete Reinaldo Colluci (SESI / SP) and won with the time of 01h50m40s, ahead of the runner-up who did 01h54m20s.

Following the podium, Santos Bruno Matheus (Locativa) came third with 1:54:51, with Henrique Siqueira (Ciclorace), fourth, with 1:55:53 and Pedro Abud (EC Pinheiros), fifth, with 1:56:31. “This test is wonderful. I love to run here with the support of the fans, friends and family. I made a strong preparation in Brasilia (DF) and knew I could win. I'm glad that everything went well and I managed to earn more this important title for my career, ”said Fernandes, champion for the fourth time of the race.

Among women, Beatriz Neres showed to be in excellent shape. Even going back in swimming, the Santos based in Brasilia imposed an electrifying pace on the bike and the race, winning the race for the second consecutive time with 02h06m46s. “I felt very good all the way and tried to do my test. I was able to do the pedal very well and, in the race, managed the difference made. Now it's fun with the family and dedicating myself to a year that promises a lot to me, ”reported Neres.

In second place was Paulista Fernanda Palma (Cyc Cyclist) with 02h14m34s, while Santista Fernanda Garcia (Aqua Sphere) came in third with 02h20m01s. For the organizer of the event and director of NA Sports, Nubio de Almeida, the competition went smoothly and stressed the active participation of athletes during all these years.

“After conducting more than 400 triathlon events in Brazil, I continue with the same intensity and satisfaction in promoting these competitions. There are a few generations of athletes who have been here and are still born for the good of the sport. Therefore, I thank all those who get involved so that the triathlon remains strong and attractive ”, explained Almeida.

The competition, conceived by NA Sports, entered the official calendar of the state of São Paulo in 1997 and has contributed to the development of sports in Brazil, as well as encouraged the exchange with the presence of big names in the sport.
