Cutting edge infrastructure
The event opens the world calendar of the sport, making it one of the most sought after and traditional of the circuit. Just to get an idea of the infrastructure of the event, since the first edition in 1992, more than a thousand people are divided between staff, security, medical staff, traffic administration - Ecovias, Military Police and Highway. In the hydration part will be distributed about 30 thousand cups of water, 3 thousand kilos of ice, besides fruits delivered after the test.
And the fight between the pros promises to be fierce. The champions in 2017, Flávio Queiroga and Bia Neres are already confirmed in the race. However, they will not have easy time. Names such as Reinaldo Colucci, Almir Gustavo Sorbo and Flávio Queiroga, among the men and Pamela de Oliveira, Beatriz Neres and Fernanda Garcia, among the women, should compose the elite of the best triathletes in Brazil who will be in contention for the title.
In fact, the balance is a characteristic factor of competition. The main winner in the men's is the Argentine Oscar Galindez, with seven achievements (1993, 1994, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2006). Among the foreign women, the highlight is the Australian Michele Jones, with five victories (1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2001). The biggest Brazilian winner of the race is Carla Moreno (2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014), who rose to the top of the podium eight times.
Gisele Bertucci (2004) and Sandra Soldan (2003) won one each. Among men, Leandro Macedo (1996), Paulo Henrique Miyashiro (2007 and 2008), Reinaldo Colucci (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013) and Marcus Fernandes (2014, 2015 and 2016) were the only national athletes to win the dispute. "It's hard to pin something. The athletes are in the beginning of the season and everything can happen during the race. Perhaps, this is the great glamor of the race, "analyzes Núbio.
